Hi Reader,
One of the quickest ways to make me not sign up for something is to tell me there are 30 speakers.
My immediate thought is usually, "Well... that's another thing I won't finish."
I know myself.
I'll watch a couple of sessions, life will happen, I'll fall behind, and suddenly I'll be carrying around guilt about another thing I "should" have finished.
So when I was invited to speak at Membership Momentum, I almost expected more of the same.
Instead, I found myself saying yes.
Here's why.
Rather than expecting everyone to consume everything, they've built the event as a choose-your-own-adventure.
You answer a few questions about where you're at, and it points you towards the sessions that are most relevant to you.
That feels... kinder.
It acknowledges that none of us have unlimited time, energy or attention.
We don't need more information.
We need the right information.
That's a philosophy I can get behind.
My session is called How to Reduce Churn Without Creating More Content, Calls, or Pressure, and it's essentially everything I wish someone had told me after spending ten years building memberships and communities.
The things I'd absolutely do again.
The mistakes I'd happily save you from making.
The stuff that only seems obvious in hindsight.
If you already run a membership, you're thinking about creating one, or you're simply curious about how these businesses actually work, I think you'll get a lot out of it.
There are more than 25 speakers, it's completely free to attend, and because of the choose-your-own-adventure format, you don't have to worry about trying to watch everything.
If you'd like to join me, you can grab your free ticket here.
Full transparency: that's an affiliate link, which means if you decide to purchase anything later, I may receive a commission at no extra cost to you.
Also, and perhaps more importantly...
There's a speaker competition.
You know how ridiculously motivated I am by games and prizes. 😂
Even registering for a free ticket through my link earns me points, so if you were thinking of coming along anyway, I'd really appreciate your support.
Much love,
Suzanne

New on the podcast...
What happens when being the reliable one becomes who you believe you have to be? Jennifer Kaufman joins me to talk about burnout dressed up as competence, the trap of being capable, knowing when it’s time for change, and learning to help without rescuing. Just because you can carry it doesn’t mean it’s yours to carry. Tune in here.

What I'm Reading...
Storm Breaker by Nisha J. Tuli, I'm about halfway through and really enjoying it so far. It has definite Hunger Games/Divergent vibes, which is probably why it's working for me, but the world and storm-based magic are interesting enough that it doesn't feel like I'm just rereading something I've read before. I'm intrigued, invested and very keen to see where it goes from here!
